Cron Daemon Remediation and OpenVPN Scaffolding
Tier-0 Automation Overhead on chonk
Routine telemetry auditing on compute host chonk surfaced two legacy agentTurn-based cron jobs consuming approximately 250,000 tokens per execution cycle. Both were driven by recursive LLM inference — conversational turn machinery wrapped around what is fundamentally a deterministic task.
tier0-ansible-integration
Before: Cron fired an agentTurn payload that dispatched the OpenClaw agent into a multi-turn exchange, each hop incurring token overhead and unpredictable latency.
After: Converted to headless SSH dispatch directly to stargate, bypassing the language model entirely. The playbook runs deterministically without any inference layer.
tier0-terraform-validation
Before: AgentTurn invocation caused intermittent FailoverError states when turn scheduling conflicted with concurrent controller workloads.
After: Replaced with a direct local shell execution. No intermediate agent, no turn overhead, no race conditions — just the Terraform plan and apply.
lab.franklin.openvpn Role Scaffolding
Concurrently with the cron remediation, the lab.franklin.openvpn Ansible role was scaffolded and verified against the stargate controller. The topology maps:
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Tunnel network | 172.16.9.0/24 |
| Server endpoint | 172.16.9.1 |
| Pushed subnet 1 | 10.10.8.0/21 (255.255.248.0) |
| Pushed subnet 2 | 10.10.13.0/24 (255.255.255.0) |
Upstream FOKS repository accessibility was verified and baseline collection sanity checks completed with zero regressions.
